Dr Tin Nguyen is a Melbourne-based gastroenterologist and endoscopist with extensive experience in digestive health and liver disease. He graduated with First Class Honours from Monash University in 2000, ranking in the top 5% of his cohort. During his studies, he received multiple academic awards.
Dr Nguyen completed specialist training in gastroenterology at The Alfred and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Melbourne. He then undertook a postgraduate hepatology fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory. This was supported by a Gastroenterological Society of Australia research scholarship.
He has contributed widely to the medical literature, publishing original research articles, editorials, reviews, and book chapters.
Clinical services and interests include:
- Viral hepatitis and liver disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis)
- Irritable bowel syndrome and functional gut disorders
- Bowel cancer screening and prevention
- Gastroscopy and colonoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic)
Dr Nguyen is committed to patient-centred, high-quality care. He is fluent in Vietnamese and actively involved in community health. This has included past service as President of the Australian Vietnamese Health Professionals Society of Victoria.
He is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Northern Health. Dr Nguyen consults privately at GastroNorth in Bundoora and Doreen. He performs endoscopic procedures at The Victorian Gut Centre and Northpark Private Hospital.
