Dr Alvin Chung graduated from medical school at the University of Melbourne in 2003. His basic physician training was undertaken at the Austin and Northern Hospitals. Upon completion of the physician examinations, he was appointed the Elizabeth Austin Registrar at Austin Hospital overseeing physician training and general medical care.

Advanced Gastroenterology training was then completed at Austin Hospital and Box Hill Hospital, where he obtained expertise in managing a wide variety of gastroenterology conditions. He then undertook a fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease gaining further experience managing this condition.

In addition to his interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease / Ulcerative Colitis), he has expertise in managing functional gut disorders (including Irritable Bowel Syndrome), liver diseases, and is accredited to perform Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Capsule Endoscopy.

He is also a senior lecturer with Monash University and Principal Investigator for multinational clinical trials in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, based at Box Hill Hospital.

Dr Alvin Chung is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with public appointments at Northern Health and Eastern Health. He works privately in Bundoora, Bulleen and Lower Templestowe.
